The Cherry Orchard Experimentation

A Director Work of Andrew Chan

A group of alumni return to their alma mater and rehearse The Cherry Orchard as a farewell performance. They shred Chekhov’s script and use its fragments to collage their own life landscapes.

In 1903, Anton Chekhov completed his fifth (and final) play, The Cherry Orchard. As a “comedy” that combines the master’s distinctive characteristics, Chekhov delicately depicts the decline of a Russian aristocratic family, whose cherry orchard is also destined to vanish. It symbolises both the collapse of the old social order and the arrival of a new social order.
